Emergencies

Booked or existing patients can contact me on my 24h emergency number 082 4477 597.
Pregnant booked patients before 24w gestation can go directly to the Casualty and ask the Doctor to contact me. Casualty has got all my numbers. After 24w gestation you should proceed directly to Sunninghill Maternity, West Wing, First Floor; you will be examined by a midwife who will report immediately to me or the person on duty for our group. Although an emergency, I cannot asses or do anything before you are at Sunninghill Hospital. Therefore phoning me does not help us. Please note: I do NOT practice from any other Clinic, therefore, If you go to an other Institution, they have to attend to your problem, I cannot help you. Should you come back to me, please bring all your reports.
Fees
The fees charged fro professional services in this practice are based on the so called Ethical Fee published by the SAMA, or approximately 300% of the RMP or what used to be the so called Medical Aid Rates. A list of all the fees can be downloaded by registering with your email at the Tariff section. Please understand that my fees are charged for the time spent, intellectual property, skill and professional service, just like engineers, accountants, lawyers or architects do. A plumber or a Telkom technician charges a R500-00 call out fee. You cannot expect a lesser fee for a mare chat with the specialist. After hours fees are double the usual rate.

 Consultations

First visits are slightly longer, but the average time spent on a repeat visit 15 to 20 minutes. On top of it there is a short physical signs check up with my nurse. An ultrasound (US) examination is routinely included for completeness, but charges are levied only if there was a request for it, a reason or complaint justifying it or there was an unexpected finding. Should you NOT wish to have an US examination, please say so BEFORE it is performed, in order to avoid unpleasant queries and discussions on the fee. Repeat visits, US, check ups might be necessary, all charged for time, skill, procedure and material used.

Ultrasound examination

The Ultrasound (US) examination is a non invasive, safe and accurate extension of our examining hands. If hands and fingers would be accurate or enough, no one would spend money and time to acquire and perform this highly sophisticated investigation.
Pregnant patients: will have an ultrasound examination each visit. Charges will be levied at 12w, 20w (twice) during a normal, uncomplicated pregnancy, but fees will be charged for all motivated US examinations when complications occur.
Gynecological visits: all patients will have at least a vaginal US examination routinely, unless the patient request NOT to have one. Fees will be charged only when the US is requested, indicated or an abnormal finding is found on the routine US examination.
